song of the hour: weezer

song of the hour: weezer – only in dreams
:)

You can’t resist her
She’s in your bones
She is your marrow
And your ride home
You can’t avoid her
She’s in the air (in the air)
In between molecules
Of oxygen and carbon dioxide

Only in dreams
We see what it means
Reach out our hands
Hold on to hers
But when we wake
It’s all been erased
And so it seems
Only in dreams

You walk up to her
Ask her to dance
She says, ‘Hey baby
I just might take the chance’
You say, ‘It’s a good thing
That you float in the air (in the air)
That way there’s no way
I will crush your pretty
Toenails into a thousand pieces.’

Only in dreams
We see what it means
Reach out our hands
Hold on to hers
But when we wake
It’s all been erased
And so it seems
Only in dreams

Only in dreams…
Only in dreams…
Only in dreams…
Only in dreams…
Only in dreams…
Only in dreams…

I want a digital camera~!!!

ran into anthony choi on campus on thursday! joy! hadn’t talked to him in quite a while… it was really wonderful to catch up! went to the starbucks on sawtelle and olympic to get hot chocolate to warm up (although he got a frappuccino… wtf?!) and chat a bit. it was a cold day, but a good conversation with a good friend you haven’t seen a while really warms the soul… or was that the hot chocolate? eh.

our conversation revealed many really interesting and really cool things, but I can only speak of one thing here. he has a canon s200 elph. this is a really really tiny 2.1 megapixel digital camera that I REALLY REALLY WANT!!! I only solidified my decision yesterday, after going to costco to get my film developed. I realized several things:
1. I don’t use my camera nearly enough.
2. i don’t use my camera because it’s too big and bulky to carry around.
3. if I do carry it around, i am shy to use it because I don’t want to waste film.
4. I always develop my pictures on CD anyway, since that’s when I look at them and that’s how I share them.

so the conclusion is, pearl really really wants a digital camera. a SMALL digital camera. I want to waste lots of space on flash media and see them right away and delete them if it’s bad and not wait 5 months to find out i took a crapload of bad pictures after I develop them. pearl really wants a canon s200 elph.

so i’ve done some homework. street price is about $350 or $300; I found it online for about $260, including shipping and tax.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!!! oh gadgets~!! what do I do?? what do I do???

currently spinnings: flaming lips –

currently spinnings:
flaming lips – yoshimi battles the pink robots. totally awesome album! run, run to get it!)
coldplay – a rush of blood to the head. coldplay get a bit more poppy on their second cd, but I still really dig it. :) it’s nice to study to.
doves – last broadcast

currently awaitings:
the release of U2’s Best of 1990-2000 (miss sarajevo is going to be on this! *glee!*)
Nirvana’s unreleased tracks.

and about nirvana: can you imagine what the music scene would be like if they were still around today? I wonder what kids think of their nirvana nowadays compared to the acts like puddle of mudd and such.

update

it’s been a while since i’ve actually updated and not just griped, so here it is!

Wednesday, Oct. 9: doves at the mayan, downtown Los Angeles. wonderful show, great opening band. I wrote a paper on it (sort of) for my history of rock and roll class. Maybe I’ll post it up later. :) They had a guy at the sound boards this time, so it sounded perfect. The audience rushed the stage for the last song.. they got to be on stage with doves!! aaaaaaah!!

Thursday, Oct. 10: lunch with sophia and brian. it’s always good to see friends. :) I think I bored them with my “Bush is driving the country into the ground!” rants, though. and the other thing! I think I’m losing my hearing. I had a really hard time hearing what brian was saying since he was diagonally across the table from me. maybe it was just noisy or something, but I really think I’m going deaf. :(

Tuesday, Oct 15: my aforementioned paper was due. aargh, CLICC lab is *always* full and there’s *always* at least a 10 minute wait. Plus, with the school year started, all the classrooms are usually reserved too. this campus is waaay tooo crowded!

On a related note. Parking is still complete madness for me when i’m on campus. Lot 2, the big-ass lot on campus, is always full, so I have to go to Lot 32. Lately, however, Lot 32 is ALSO full, so they send people to Lot 1! unfortunately, a lot of people don’t know where Lot 1 is (behind the medical plaza on gayley), so the attendants have to hold up the line and give them directions. on top of that, there is usually only one attendant helping everyone, so the line is really really long, sometimes stretching past gayley. Honestly, there’s a parking problem at UCLA… there’s gotta be a way to make things better. :( maybe I *should* shell out the $300 for the vanpool 0_o

Wednesday, Oct. 16: Oh gosh, I really really want a digital camera! and not just ANY digital camera, I want that Canon Elph S200! it’s soooo small and it’s got so many neat features… and all I really need is a 2.1 megapixel camera anyway. I was looking on eBay and I found it for about 260 (it retails for about 300), but I didn’t get it because I don’t deserve it yet. Okay, and I also can’t afford it. but a gal can dream right?? ;D Oh gadgets!! too much fun!!

I was also talking to phil yesterday, and he mentioned that he wanted to get a MuVo. have you seen those things? they’re mp3 players that double as a super-portable usb drive. they’re about the size of a stick of gum. geez, when did all these gadgets get soooooooo coooooool??

hehe. too much fun.

HEY tahiti 80 is playing at the troubadour in november. anyone wanna go? tix are 15 bucks, but I think it’s about $22 with ticketmaster fees. could be fun fun?
