(something like my hair, which i will eventually post a picture of. really.)
1. Working makes it hard to post in a blog. and before you get all excited, it’s not like a real permanent thing or anything special, i’m just helping out a friend at his small business.
2. My blog comments are getting porn spammed. paresh, how did you deal with this?!
3. I really really want to go to Coachella now, but I ain’t got tickets. Know anyone with a pair o’ tix (for the Saturday show) that they want to get off their hands? Share the love, baby!
4. I don’t speak smart. I talked to some of my old professors today (wise and lal) and i love them i love them. I just hate how I talk stupid at them. Bah, I’m such an intellectual whore… or would I be more of a groupie? Either way, the point is that i’m out of my league.
5. Working makes you want to paaaaaartay. I wanna go out and shake my booty!
6. Sitting at a desk all day makes you fat. I resolve to put my gym membership to good use.
7. I only saw a total of 15 minutes of the entire Apprentice series, but apparently I had seen enough to get quite pissed at Omarosa. More importantly though (for Trump, anyway), his self-promotion series has done its magic on me: jer and i are seriously considering going to Trump’s casino in Palm Springs… cuz Dave Chappelle is going to be there! :D
8. Catalina Island is purty. The semi-submarine ride is a rip. I’m not paying $20 to launch 16 ‘torpedoes’ of fish food. Then again, we did pay exhorbitant prices to get on the stupid thing. Long story. Anyway, pictures from this trip are forthcoming.
9. it’s bad news when your dentist decides to explain a procedure he can do for you by citing the show ‘Extreme Makeover.”
oy very, comment spam. well, there’s 2 possible cures:
1. use mt-blacklist. its an mt program that blocks all the ip addresses on the blacklist. you’ll need to download updated lists every so often to keep it current.
2. only leave comments open for the entries that appear on your page (that is to say, all the entries that have not been sent to the archive yet). once an entry leaves your front page nd goes to the archives, change the comment setting to “closed”.
when i was spammed, i first went through and painstakingly deleted all the spam. then i changed all the settings to closed except for the entries on my front page. now, once entries reach the 14 day mark and they are sent to the archives, i change the comments to closed. that way, if i do get spammed, they’ll only be able to spam the 5 or 6 entries on my front page.
so option 2 worked for me because i really didn’t have too many entries at the time. however, given the sheer number of entries you have amassed over the years, mt blacklist would probably work better for you. sorry this comment was mighty long, but at least its not spam!
MT-blacklist? I’ve never tried that.
I had considered switching to WordPress, which appearently has better spam fighting than MT 2.661.
Individually blocking IP addresses in MT helped some– I used to get massive pr0n spam, but now it’s down to 1-2 spams at most. Unfortunately MT IP banning only does individual IPs, not whole IP subnets.
MT goes paid and it’s a very expensive paid. Free MT is limited to 1 user/3 blogs… anything else, and we’re talking from $70 to $600…
I was going to integrate my separate logs with a handful (like, 3) users onto a single MT setup. I guess that’s not going to happen– I can’t justify $70 for a software setup that has no growth potential (3 users already, 3 user cap, augh!)
EEEEEEKK! Time to look at WordPress and Serendipity as alternatives.
