your privacy and JetBlue

jetBlue has signed on to test a program called CAPPS II, which is part of the Department of Homeland Security’s efforts to track down and identify potential terrorists. While i can’t speculate on its potential efficacy in the quest to stop international terrorism, the fact that very detailed personal information will be collected by the computer reservation system, passed on not only to the government, but also sold to whomever it wishes, namely commercial entities, does strike me as being rather disturbing.

to be frank, the only information i have on it is at a site here, and i can’t verify everything on it. it’s definitely worth looking at, however.

heh, i’ll be reconsidering flying on jetBlue for a little while. =P
